Facebook announced that it had excluded from its pages and those of its Instagram subsidiary, British organizations of the far right, considering that they spread hatred and have no place in them.

"Individuals and organizations that spread hatred, attack or call for the exclusion of others on the basis of what they are, have no place on Facebook," a company spokesman said in an email to Agence France-Presse.

The list of those excluded includes the far-right British National Party, Britain First, a militant anti-Islamic minority, and the English Defense League, an organization that claims to be fighting of the Islamist threat and was founded by Steven Jaxley-Lennon, better known by the pseudonym Tommy Robinson, after a famous hooligan.

The latter was accused of "regularly violating" the rules of Facebook by sending hate messages, which is why his personal page was removed in February.
