"Frenzy" prevailed today Thursday (15/04) to secure a vaccine, with the result that the Vaccination Portal "fell" for the second time.
The Gate opened at 07:30 in the morning for the 61-63 age groups and "fell" a few minutes later due to system overload.
As the Deputy Minister of Innovation, Kyriakos Kokkinos, stated in the SIGMA show "Mesimeri kai Kati", there were 26.000 beneficiaries, however, 120.000 people entered the Gate to claim an appointment.
As he explained, for each beneficiary, an average of five people came in to arrange an appointment.
He noted that a change is expected in the Portal so that only the beneficiary or only one person can nominate himself for the appointment.
Within minutes of the Gate opening, he said, the 1934 Pfizer vaccines "disappeared."
Apparently, the mistrust that has been created for the AstraZeneca vaccine is forcing people to "run" en masse to secure the Pfizer vaccine, something that could not be taken into account during the time the Portal was being designed.
Mr. Kokkinos noted that it will take about a week to resolve the issue and it is possible that the Gate will fall again if the same phenomenon of overload is observed.
Asked to comment on whether he intends to resign, Mr. Kokkinos said that this is a decision of the President of the Republic.
"When the Portal works and the people are served, then this issue is mine," he said.
