Passenger traffic at Larnaca and Paphos airports was reduced below 10% of normal during the first quarter of 2021, according to Hermes Airports Senior Director of Communications and Aviation Development, Maria Kouroupi.
March closed with extremely low number of flights, with about 46 thousand passengers arriving in Cyprus and departing from the island with 60 flights per week.
There are currently 25 airlines flying from Greece, Germany, Austria and the United Arab Emirates, with the prospect of gradually increasing. For April, 100 flights are expected in the first fortnight and around 120 in the second, although there is a flow of cancellations from various companies, as the epidemiological data are not good.
According to Ms. Kouroupi, 150 flights a week are expected for May in the first fortnight and 200 in the second, if the English market opens.
Yesterday came three flights from Israel with 400 passengers. 90% had a vaccination certificate and the rest came with a test.
Five Russian companies have scheduled flights in April, however, everything will depend on the evolution of the pandemic.
