Eleven million euros donated by the Republic of Cyprus for the rebirth of the region in Mati, which was destroyed in July 2018 by the great fire, the Greek Prime Minister announced during his visit to the region.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited Mati on Thursday morning, where he met the residents, talking about the projects being carried out in the area. The Greek Prime Minister was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus, Kyriakos Kenevezos and representatives of the Church.
In this context, the donation of the Republic of Cyprus totaling 11 million euros for the rebirth of the region was announced.
In detail, the following will be available:
8 million euros for the construction of housing units for those vulnerable groups who after the deadly fire are unable to secure their own home, on a plot of 50 acres of the church
3 million euros to finance the study and technical projects for the landscaping of a Mediterranean green and recreational park that the local community has been claiming for years on a plot of 130 acres of EFKA.
