An appeal for insufficient punishment was filed by the Legal Service against the 7-year imprisonment imposed on the 73-year-old by the Criminal Court in cases of sexual abuse of his grandchildren.
It is noted that the sentence was imposed on August 5 by the Permanent Criminal Court of Larnaca - Famagusta, stating in its announcement that "joint prison sentences of seven, five and four years for sexual abuse of children two years and 18 months, for indecent assault against children and three years in prison for attempting to have sex with a young man under the age of 13 ".
The offenses took place between January and February 2019, in the province of Famagusta.
The Criminal Court stated that "for the purposes of imposing the sentence, the circumstances of the commission of the offenses and the personal circumstances of the accused were taken into account".
