The first snow fell in Troodos - Very strong winds today

For the first time this year there is snowfall on the highest peaks of Troodos with light and temporary snowfall.

Today, periods with mostly clear weather will alternate with cloudy skies, which in the morning are expected to give isolated rains and on the higher peaks of the Troodos temporary snow water or light snowfall. The winds will blow mainly westerly to northwesterly, moderate to strong, 4 to 5 beauforts, but in the leeward to very strong, 5 to 6 beauforts. The sea will be up to turbulent in the east, turbulent to wavy in the south, but very wavy and initially up to stormy in the west and north. The temperature will rise to around 19 degrees inland and on the coast and to 8 degrees in the higher mountains.

Tonight, the weather will be mostly clear. The winds will blow mainly westerly to northwesterly moderate, 4 beauforts, but initially in the leeward to strong, 4 to 5 beauforts. The sea will become a little turbulent in the east, a little turbulent and locally to turbulent in the south, but turbulent and initially to wavy in the west and north. The temperature will drop to 9 degrees inland, around 11 on the south and east coasts, around 13 on the west and north coasts and to 2 degrees in the higher mountains, where locally frost will form.

On Thursday, the weather will be mostly clear, but in the afternoon and evening there will be locally increased clouds.

Friday the weather will be partly cloudy and at times mostly cloudy.

On Saturday the weather will be partly cloudy and at times cloudy, while at night local rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected from the west.

The temperature will rise slightly on Thursday and non-significant change thereafter, to generally range close to average climatic values.
