Yesterday, Monday, December 20, 2021, the application process for the first phase of the Plan for Withdrawal of Polluting Old Vehicles of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works was completed, according to the Ministry of Transport, while from 6 to 20 December 2021, a total of 3,145 applications for the withdrawal of polluting vehicles.

According to the Press and Information Office, the Plan is part of the Government's broader strategy for the integration of e-mobility in Cyprus and the transition to green transport and sustainable mobility, and the goal is, among other things, the elimination of carbon emissions, as stated in the National Plan for Energy and Climate 2021-2030, which envisions the transition to climate neutrality by 2050.

Specifically, 2,973 applications were submitted for withdrawal and replacement with a new private vehicle with emission mass ≤50 gr / km - CO2, 16 applications for withdrawal and replacement with a new taxi vehicle with emission mass ≤50 gr / km - CO2, 25 applications for withdrawal and replacement with a new wheelchair with emission mass ≤50 gr / km - CO2, 63 applications for withdrawal and replacement with a new vehicle of a large family with emission mass ≤50 gr / km - CO2, 51 applications for withdrawal and purchase of a new electric bicycle (support and 17 applications for withdrawal of an old vehicle in exchange for the provision of free tickets for use on regular bus services.

The amounts that will be allocated for the purpose of withdrawing an old vehicle and replacing it with a new vehicle range from € 7,500 to € 12,000.

The examination of the applications will start immediately and the beneficiaries who meet the criteria will be informed about the pre-approval of their application and if pre-approval is given, the beneficiary has two months to present proof of order of the new vehicle and 12 months to register. of. The sponsorship is given with the registration of the vehicle, within 12 months from the pre-approval.

Finally, it is reminded that from yesterday, December 21, 2021, until January 3, 2022, the application process for the first phase of the Electric Vehicle Sponsorship Plans is in place. Those interested can submit their application online through the website www.ev.gov.cy (link is external). Applications will be processed in order of priority based on their submission date (first-come, first-served).
