The terror and the strong reactions around the video in which Cypriots are depicted verbally attacking with unbelievable racism, against a woman from Russia, continue.

Police immediately launched an investigation and all those involved have been identified and called to testify.

It is recalled that, according to the video, the young Cypriot women apparently collided with a vehicle in a parking lot in Larnaca and then tried to flee, but the woman from Russia managed to stop them.

What the legislation provides

According to the relevant legislation, "a person who intentionally, either publicly or publicly, incites violence or hatred against a group of persons or a member of a group of persons determined on the basis of race, color, religion, pedigree or national origin. or ethnic origin, in a way that disturbs public order or that is threatening, abusive or offensive in nature, is guilty of an offense and, in case of conviction, is subject to imprisonment of not more than five (5) years or to a fine not exceeds ten thousand euros (€ 10.000) or both.

(2) Subject to the provisions of subsection (3), a person who intentionally and in a manner disturbing public order or who is threatening, abusive or offensive in any way

(a) publicly endorses or denies or blatantly downplayes the crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes as defined in Articles 6, 7 and 8 of the Statute of the International Criminal Court, and turns against a group of persons or a member of a group of persons on the basis of race, color, religion, pedigree or ethnic or national origin, and such conduct is manifested in a way that is likely to incite violence or hatred against such a group or member, or

(b) publicly endorses or denies or blatantly downplays the offenses set forth in article 6 of the Statute of the International Military Tribunal, the English text of which is set out in Part I of the Table and the Greek translation in Part II of the Table, and turns against a group of persons or a member of such a group determined on the basis of race, color, religion, pedigree or ethnic or national origin and such behavior is manifested in a way that is likely to incite violence or hatred against such a group or member is guilty of an offense and, in the event of a conviction, is subject to a prison sentence not exceeding five years (5) or a fine not exceeding ten thousand Euros (€ 10) or both.

(3) The denial or gross degradation of the offenses referred to in paragraphs (a) and (b) of subsection (2) constitutes a criminal offense under subsection (2) only if the offenses referred to have been recognized by an irrevocable judgment of an international tribunal; or by unanimous decision or by unanimous resolution of the House of Representatives.

(4) Without prejudice to subparagraphs (1) and (2), reference to religion also covers conduct which constitutes a pretext for directing acts against a group of persons or a member of such a group determined by race, color, pedigree, or nationality or ethnic origin.

As for the Cypriot parties involved, they are expected to file a complaint for violation of their personal data.
