The competent services of the state are on high alert, after cyber attacks that the vaccination portal has been receiving for a long time.

According to exclusive information from Omega, the cyber-attack or cyberattacks came from 138 countries, but the situation so far is manageable. The fact is confirmed by the Deputy Minister of Research and Innovation Kyriakos Kokkinos

"Cyber attacks are always there, whether superficial or by individuals or organized. The last few days are very intense, but manageable. I can not say more because it is not right. We have forwarded to all the competent authorities, both European and Cypriot, for investigation ", said Mr. Kokkinos.

His report on the problems faced by the vaccination portal is also characteristic, without, however, attributing the problems to cyber attacks.

"I draw enough oars to take responsibility for the issues of the portal. "You understand now and my silence until today", he said characteristically.

From the very beginning, the Digital Security Authority, which aims to protect the critical information infrastructure of the state and the proper operation of communication and information technologies, has made complaints to the European supervisory authorities, while investigating the possibility that the specific attacks took place in other European Countries.

"Yes. In recent days there has been a cyber attack or cyber attacks on the gate. This is under investigation, where it is managed by the competent authority. We have involved the competent bodies of the state, as well as European bodies of which we are members ", said the Head of the Digital Security Authority, George Michailidis.

"Because they are very organized attacks and it takes a lot of resources to do them, they are usually done by states or they are states that pay them to do them. We can not say if it is something like that, but we are investigating it ", said Mr. Michailidis.

In the last week after the continuous cyber attacks on the vaccination portal, the software proceeded to exclude beneficiaries residing in third countries, with the result that a cyber attack was detected from inside, specifically from Larnaca and Nicosia.

And this is what worries and concerns the government, as we have been told by credible sources from the Presidency, behind the attacks there is organized energy, given the enormous resources and connections one must have to activate such mechanisms, one can to realize the seriousness.

However in the general picture, according to the same source, the problems in the vaccination portal in no case and in general do not relate to cyber attacks and are not used as an alibi.

That is why the portal has recently undergone changes for the better service of the citizens.

However for the great inconvenience and delay that was observed last Tuesday and Thursday it was due to these attacks.

What we are keeping so far is what the CEO of Cyta has said, that the protection is effective, but we do not know what will follow.
