The Referral Hospital is once again on its borders after the increase of cases.

Speaking on the Front Page, Dr. Amalia Hatzigianni stated that today 42 patients are being treated at the Reference Hospital, 7 of which are in the Intensive Care Unit, with the result that the hospital has reached 93% of its fullness.

"The average age is 66 years, the youngest is 22 years old while the oldest is 97 years old," said Dr. Hatzigianni.

He added that 80% of hospitalized patients are unvaccinated.

Asked what could be done to increase vaccination coverage in Cyprus, she said, "Perhaps more accurate information needs to be provided either through schools or through the media that the vaccine is the only weapon we have at the moment."

He concluded: "Vaccination is the only weapon we have but always in combination with protection measures such as mask, distances, antiseptic and medication for patients."
