In the first weeks of 2022, the indications that reached the Ministry of Tourism for the tourist traffic of the year were more than positive.
However, hopes were dashed by Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24 and the subsequent sanctions to block Russian planes from European airspace. This development meant for Cyprus a loss of approximately 25% of the expected tourist traffic, which concerns the Russian and Ukrainian markets.
At the same time, the accuracy, which plagues the whole of Europe and the world in general, is a deterrent to travel abroad, for those Cypriots and foreigners who were waiting for the pandemic to "do them a favor"…
These and other questions related to tourism, the Deputy Minister of Tourism Savvas Perdios answered to "Simerini".
