The 135th salary is € 13 million

Thousands of employees in both the public and private sectors are waiting for the payment of the 13th salary. The 13th salary is an injection in the pockets of households, while it also stimulates the market during the festive season.

Following a decision by the Minister of Finance, the salaries and pensions of government officials, civil servants and hourly government staff for the month of December will be paid on December 20 and the corresponding 13th salaries / pensions on December 27.

As for the private sector, the 13th will be given until December 31, depending on the company's agreement with the employees.

For civil servants the cost (gross earnings and employer contributions) of the 13th salary for the State will be around € 120 million, while for government hourly staff it will be around € 15 million.

It is noted that the total staff of the public and wider public sector, according to the latest data of the labor force survey published by the Statistical Service, amounts to 67.504. Of these, 61.603 concern the central Government.

At the same time, the information campaign of the Ministry of Labor is in progress in cooperation with the employers' organizations OEB and KEVE and the unions SEK, PEO and DEOK for the concession of 13th salary which will be completed on December 17, 2018.
