Today, 208 patients with coronavirus are treated in public hospitals, while at the same time another 800 patients are treated for different reasons, with the result that the occupancy of hospitals exceeds 80%. At the same time, cases from the Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital of Nicosia were sent to the private sector.

As Charalambos Charilaou, Spokesperson of the State Health Services Organization (OKYPY), stated to KYPE, out of the 208 patients with coronavirus, 24 are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit.

At the same time, he noted, another 800 patients who are not related to the coronavirus are being treated, with the result that the occupancy of public hospitals exceeds 80%.

"It is for this reason," said Mr. Charilaou, "that the revised plan of the State Health Services Organization for the development of beds has been implemented, with regard to COVID-19, at the Larnaca General Hospital and at the Paphos General Hospital." .

Mr. Charilaou stated that at the Larnaca General Hospital at the moment 14 patients are being treated and all the necessary preparations are being made at the Paphos General Hospital, so that it is ready.

Meanwhile, the OKYPY Spokesperson stated that a dialogue has begun with the Pancyprian Association of Private Hospitals for the referral of patients to the private sector.

We are, he said, "on the right track, already with the care of the Ministry of Health and the General Director of the Ministry of Health, some cases have been sent from the Intensive Care Unit of the General Hospital of Nicosia to the private sector".

He also pointed out that if there is a need to send other incidents from common wards, they will do so.

We are, he continued, "in very close contact, so that everything is done in the right way, and so that at the same time they can be treated and served, patients positive in the coronary artery, but also all other emergencies that are not related with the crown, so that no one of our fellow human beings is left without medical help ".

Regarding the vaccinations of health professionals, the program, said Mr. Charilaou, continues.

We hope, he noted, that at the end of the day a larger percentage of health professionals will be vaccinated, so that they can protect themselves, themselves, their families, but also the patients themselves.
