A total of 430 patients with COVID -19 were referred to the private sector and 45 to the intensive care unit, with the General Director of the Ministry of Health, Christina Giannaki, stating that there is an increase in patients in the intensive care unit.
A meeting was held this afternoon on the issue of patient management COVID-19, at the General Hospital of Nicosia, which was chaired by the Minister of Health, Michalis Hatzipandela, in the presence of the General Director of the Ministry of Health, Christina Giannaki.
According to an official announcement by the GTP, in his statements to the journalists after the end of the meeting, the Minister stated that this meeting takes place almost every two to three days for the last month, to discuss the problems and find solutions to serve the patients. Today's meeting focused on the number of beds in the intensive care unit and the planning for the next few days, according to the Minister.
The Director General of the Ministry of Health, for her part, said that "to date we have taken out of the private sector from all our public hospitals, around 430 patients, we have taken out about 45 patients in the intensive care unit" and noted that "the beds in the private sector are not inexhaustible ".
There are currently 25 patients in the private intensive care unit, according to Ms. Giannaki.
In addition, he said that there is no longer one intensive care unit at the General Hospital, but three.
He noted that to date, about 23,800 people have been vaccinated at walk-in vaccination centers. "And in this way, the more vaccinations we have, the less we will have in the public hospitals. "And attendance is no longer in the wards, they have dwindled there, we have an increase in intensive care due to this mutation that exists," he said.
Regarding the new Intensive Care Unit at the Reference Hospital, Ms. Giannaki said that there are 59 patients at the Reference Hospital and nine at the Intensive Care Unit. She, as he said, will help patients not to be transferred to the General Hospital of Nicosia.
At the Ministry the request of Universities for physical presence of students at 80%
Asked to comment on the request for study at the Universities with a physical presence of 80% with the presentation of a negative PCR test, the Minister replied that this will be occupied by the Minister on Monday.
"It is something that was discussed with the Universities, the Universities have requested a physical presence of students in the classrooms, in order to have a physical presence there must be a high percentage of vaccinated students", said Mr. Hadjipandela.
