More than 6,000 companies, directly or indirectly affiliated with Cyprus, are among the Panama Papers released by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) tonight.

As revealed in the documents, these are specifically 6,374 companies, the vast majority of which are registered by law firms in Cyprus and administrative service organizations.

The list of Panamas also includes 3678 directors, most of whom are affiliated with the organizations that registered the companies.

According to information from SigmaLive, the disclosure of the data has already mobilized the authorities, which will try to identify who is hiding behind the coastal companies and whether they have paid their tax obligations. It is worth noting, however, that data from 500 companies, based in Cyprus, are already before the Hellenic Capital Market Commission. These data were submitted to the supervisory authority immediately after the first publication of documents.

The chairman of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission, Dimitra Kalogirou, had stated in the morning (Monday) that the said data are being processed and expressed the hope that by the end of May there will be the first indications.

The revelation of the Panama Papers, concerns the largest leak of secret money routes through coastal companies and involves, among others, 140 politicians and officials from around the world. The fire list also includes tycoons, artists and athletes from around the world.
