An appeal to everyone if they really want, effectively, to face the Turkish intransigence, to join forces and work universally, in order to save the Cypriot Hellenism and to reunite the place, addressed President Anastasiadis.
The President of the Republic pointed out that we should create conditions for a state harmonized with the European acquis, which guarantees security and peace, and not a state driven by third parties.
He also said that Ankara's interventions and its willingness to control the entire state through the Turkish Cypriot community, as well as its desire to turn Cyprus into a Turkish protectorate, led to the failure of the talks, despite the convergences that had been reached.
President Anastasiadis added that the Turkish demands could not be accepted, at a time when the Secretary-General of the United Nations himself had determined, through the European Union, friends of countries and permanent members of the Security Council, that without his solution There can be no solution to the Cyprus issue.
Concluding, he reiterated that he had already informed Antonio Guterres of his readiness to return to dialogue whether there were elections or not, as long as there was proper preparation by the United Nations.
President Anastasiadis spoke at the unveiling of the monument of EOKA fighters in Xylotympou.
