The representative of the Turkish Cypriot leader Baris Bourtziou launched a fierce attack against President Anastasiadis.
Bourtiou said that President Anastasiadis's statements that after Akinci took over the leadership of the Turkish Cypriots, progress was initially made in the negotiations, which was later terminated due to the involvement of Turkey.
In a written statement, Bourtsou states that there is no evidence that the Turkish Cypriot side withdrew from an agreement. He even claimed that President Anastasiadis is the one who withdrew both on the issue of confidence-building measures and on the negotiations of the six chapters.
Bourtziou also claimed that President Anastasiadis was influenced by the reactions of those who oppose the solution due to the elections and abandoned his commitment to it.
On the contrary, he noted, Mustafa Akciji, taking every opportunity, continued his sincere efforts together with his negotiating team to resolve the Cyprus issue.
