With the adoption of the Conclusions for Turkey during yesterday's Summit, the government's goal of connecting the Euro-Turkish and Cypriot states has been achieved, said the Government Spokesman, Konstantinos Letymiotis.

Speaking on state radio, Mr. Letymiotis said that last night, the Republic of Cyprus sent the message that it expects Turkey to operate in a constructive way, so that through the progress in the Cypriot issue, progress can also be achieved in the Euro-Turkish issue.

He characterized paragraphs 9 and 10 of the Conclusions as important, in which it is pointed out that the European Union attaches great importance to the progress of the Cypriot issue.

In relation to the referral of the strategic discussion of Euro-Turkish relations to COREPER, Mr. Letympiotis said that this was also an issue in Nicosia's proposals, since after this development, all member states will have a say in the development of Euro-Turkish relations.

Referring to the visit that President Christodoulidis and the President of the Commission will make to Lebanon on May 2, the Government Spokesperson emphasized that the focus of the talks will be the package of additional economic support for Lebanon.

He said that the specific package is being processed, however he expressed the belief that by the time of the visit, this issue will have progressed, so that the Lebanese leadership can be informed by President Christodoulides and Ursula Von der Leyen.
