At the same time, Mr. Lavrov mentions as logical the proposal of Moscow for the participation of the Permanent Members of the UN Security Council in an international conference for Cyprus on the issues of security and guarantees. The way to achieve this goal is through a comprehensive, fair, stable and sustainable solution to the Cyprus problem, he added.
Regarding the internal aspects of the settlement, he says that they are the exclusive prerogative of the parties themselves and Russia will support the decision of the Cypriots between them, taking into account the legal rights of both Cypriot communities. He also noted that any outside efforts to enforce ready-made decisions were unacceptable, and noted Moscow's proposal for the participation of all Permanent Members of the UN Security Council, including Russia, in the discussion of international aspects of the settlement, as well as in an international conference on Cyprus.
Regarding the EU sanctions against Russia, Mr. Lavrov said that he appreciates the attitude of Cyprus, which is in favor of the normalization of Russia's relations with the EU as soon as possible.
