In a new way, the minimum wage in Greece will be determined from 2017. Until then, the Minister of Labor, Giannis Vroutsis, notes that "the minimum wage will remain stable at 586 euros".

The new mechanism stipulates that the minimum wage will be set by the government, after consulting the social partners and taking into account a number of factors in the economy and employment.

According to the ministry with the new mechanism:

There is a legal threshold for wages and salaries, below which wages may not be set either by collective or individual employment contracts.

It is allowed to conclude collective agreements at higher wage levels, at individual sectoral or business levels after consultation of the social partners.

The new system for determining the minimum wage and salary that will be in force from 2017.
