The Easter program of events of the Municipality of Ayia Napa is rich. The Municipality of Ayia Napa has again this year prepared a rich Easter program for Easter Sunday and Monday, which promises to give beautiful and unrepeatable moments to its thousands of visitors who are expected to flood Ayia Napa during the Easter days, but also to inform all that they will take place throughout the period of Holy Week.
On Holy Wednesday (01 May 2024) at 18:00 p.m., the Holy Eucharist will be celebrated in the Church of Our Lady of Agia Napa and at 18:45 p.m. the Service of the Niptiros.
On Maundy Thursday (May 02, 2024) at 06:30 am the Divine Liturgy of the Great Basil and the Last Supper will be celebrated, while on the same day at 18:30 the Mass of the Holy Passion of the Lord and the decoration of the Epitaph.
On Good Friday (May 03, 2024) at 8:30 a.m. there will be the Deposition of Christ at 19:00 p.m. the Epitaphian Lament and at 21:00 p.m. the procession of the Epitaph on the main streets and narrow streets of the city. The procession will be preceded by the Band of the Municipality/Church of Panagia Agia Napa and the church choir will sing "Ai geneai passai".
On Great Saturday (May 04, 2024) at 7:00 am the first Resurrection of the Lord will be celebrated, at 20:30 before the Resurrection Mass the lighting of the Lambratzia and the burning of Judas will take place in the northern area of the Monastery. It will also revive for one more year an old traditional custom which is the burning of screws and banging them on the ground. From 23:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., the Resurrection Service - ΄Orthros and the Divine Liturgy will be held.
On Easter Sunday (May 05, 2024) at 10:30 in the morning, the Vespers of Love will be celebrated in the Holy Church of Panagia Agia Napa where the Gospel will be read in various languages. The artistic program will begin at 19:00 with the music and dance performance "The Roots of our Tradition" curated and presented by the Dance Group of the Municipality of Agia Napa and "Kimon" Xylotymbou. Next at 20:00 is the performance "Easter of the Greeks" by the Dance Ensembles "Aradippos" and "Erophyli" of Rethymno Crete, which will present dances from Thrace and Crete.
On Easter Monday (06 May 2024) the Vespers of Love will be celebrated at 16:00. The Easter Monday program will start at 16:30 with souses, dances and tsiatistas under the tubezia by the Dance Group "THOI" Avgorou. From 17:30 to 19:00 the traditional Easter games will be held in the square.
The artistic part of the program will start at 19:15 with a Folk Dance Program by the Dance Group of the "Yasoumeia" Cultural Club Dasous ΄Achnas and at 20:00 follows the "Easter Gathering" where the Folklore ΄Omilos Dasous ΄Achnas will present the Greek Dance Group "Pegasos" of Thessaloniki and the "Sibiu" Dance Group of Romania. The Easter Monday program concludes with the performance "Cut a twining princess for me daughter" which will be presented by the "Rymvos" Cultural Group.
