Concert "From Byzantium to Today" with Dimitris Bassis, Saturday 7/10 at the 18th Medieval Festival of Ayia Napa.
The program unravels the thread from Byzantine hymns and folk songs, follows the vein of Smyrnaiki and Rebetiko, is grafted with the musical intellect of Vamvakaris – Tsitsanis and then reaches the cosmogony of the 60s and the meeting of Theodorakis – Hadjidakis with the great poets. It does not leave out characteristic songs of Kaldaras, Plessas, Xarhakos, the important lyrical moments of Nikos Gatsos. It passes through Kouyoumtzis, Loizos and approaches the decades of the 80s and 90s for a close look at contemporary creators and the personal repertoire of Dimitris Bassis.
