Do you want a house without pests, but do not like to use strong-smelling insecticides? Chemical pesticides are extremely toxic and can harm not only the insects but also you and your family. Recent research shows that these chemicals can be linked to many serious health issues. This article will teach you how to get rid of unwanted insects in your home using natural ways that are just as effective as using chemicals but not as harmful to you and your family.
We look forward to showing you these very useful tricks to get rid of household pests.
1. Cockroaches
Cockroaches go out for food and water, so you are more likely to never see them if there is nothing to eat at home. If this is not possible, then make a trap. Take an empty plastic bottle of soft drink, cut off the top and assemble it as shown in the picture above, so that it looks like a funnel. Seal it with tape around the mouth. Add a little water and place the trap where cockroaches are likely to appear. They can get in but they can't get out of your trap. While this trick traps individual cockroaches, the method does not affect their nest.
2. Fruit flies
It does not take much for these annoying fruit flies to appear around the house and that is why we want to show you how to make a trap to get rid of them. Put half a cup of vinegar in a glass jar, cut a few pieces of ripe or rotten fruit, place a piece of paper to make a funnel and put it in the jar creating a fly trap. Place the trap on the infected area and leave it overnight. Be sure to get rid of the trap when the flies are in it.
3. Mosquitoes
Lemongrass and lemongrass essential oils are known to repel mosquitoes. Use an essential oil candle or diffuser to keep these insects away. You can even make your own candle. Another way to use it - melt a little coconut oil, add a few drops of essential oil and mix well, wait until it hardens and then on the skin. Just remember not to put insoluble essential oil on your skin.
4. Flies
The main thing to remember is that flies hate lavender! Take a sponge or a small cloth and soak it in diluted lavender essential oil, place the sponge in a small jar and let it drain somewhere in the house. Flies will not approach you because of this and that is exactly what you want! You can also spray with lavender oil by adding about 30 drops of lavender essential oil to a small spray bottle of water. Remember - avoid any skin contact with diluted essential oil.
There are some other options if you want to try something else to get rid of these annoying insects.
5. Ants
Mix a teaspoon of alcohol, a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid and a cup of water and pour it into a small spray bottle. Shake until it starts to gush and spray the area where you have spotted an ant. Because of the alcohol, the ants will stay away.
6. Carpenter bees
Carpenter bees are pollinators and essential for any wild flora. If you have a beehive in your home, it may be a good idea to contact a local beekeeper who will be happy to remove them instead of killing them. If you do not have this option, spray the infected area with citrus spray. Put peels of different citrus fruits (grapefruit, lemon, tangerine, lime and orange) in water and cook for 10-15 minutes. Pour it into a spray bottle and spray the carpenter bee nest. Like many other insects, carpenter bees are intolerant of citrus fruits.
7. Wasps
Prevention is always the easiest way to get rid of insects. Wasps are very spatial, so fake decorative wasp nests around your home will probably solve the problem before it even starts. To get rid of wasps if they have already made a nest somewhere around your house, mix two tablespoons of dishwashing liquid with water and put it in a spray bottle. Spray it directly into the nest. Experts say this kills them immediately.
8. Spiders
Spiders hate the smell of tea tree oil. Mix ½ cup of water,. Cup of vinegar and a few drops of tea tree essential oil and spray it on any corners and cupboards in your home.
9. Bedbugs
Add 10 drops of eucalyptus essential oil to a cup of water, shake well and put in a spray bottle. Spray the mattress and bedding to repel bed bugs. If you travel often, it may be a good idea to carry eucalyptus oil in your suitcase. Put a few drops of the oil on a tissue and wipe the mattress in your hotel room just in case.
10. You stink
The easiest and safest way to get rid of these small smelly insects is garlic spray. Mix in 2 cups of water 4 teaspoons of garlic powder, shake well and spray any plants and areas around your windows to keep them away.
