"Everyone thought I was not going to come back alive. In their eyes I saw a painted goodbye… "

"What to go to Geneva since he will not turn back anyway."

He is one of the people who…

They do not carry anger in them, nor evil, but only love. They apologize, say thank you and always mean it. They are full of kindness and when they talk to you they smile at you at the same time.
They will never admit that they are in pain, because they know that human pain is neither shared nor measured. Nor will they fight to be accepted, since life itself chose them to stand out…

Annoula Kasoulidi reports on ant1iwo:
"I was born and raised in Nicosia. I had a wonderful childhood, carefree, carefree, full of love. Unfortunately, my childhood and adolescence were marred by the horrific experience of the 1974 war. We were then the whole family in Famagusta and we left the latter.
I finished high school in Nicosia and then went to study in London. I was a student when I got engaged. I got married a short time later and had 3 wonderful daughters. I divorced several years later.
In my life I have always learned to smile, I am a very optimistic person and very sociable. I managed to have a wonderful relationship with my children and that makes me very happy and proud! I loved learning things and in general, my life was full of beautiful experiences. At some point, however, something completely unexpected happened…

I was in Nicosia watching a basketball game. I suddenly fainted and fell from the stands. When I recovered, I had horrible chest pains. I was transported by ambulance to the General Hospital of Nicosia. Unfortunately the doctors there made a wrong diagnosis…
A few days later I learned what really happened to me, I suffered aortic dissection - Separation aneurysm (Aortic dissection is the most urgent catastrophic condition that can be faced by modern Cardiac Surgery and requires a specialized Cardiac Surgery Team, because it presents a very high preoperative but preoperative disease incidence is 5-30 cases per million population per year).
I was told that I could not have surgery because my chances of survival were slim. I was hospitalized for about 1 month and when I was discharged, I went to my brother's house until I recovered.

The doctors told me that 2 of the 3 dividing aneurysms of the descending thoracic aorta had grown. I definitely had to have surgery but…
It was an extremely difficult operation and in Cyprus at that time there was no state doctor who could perform it.
I went through very difficult times but I was trying to find ways not to fall psychologically. Fortunately, I had my family by my side but also people who really loved me and stood by me, supported me and made me smile!
In the meantime, I was looking every day to find hospitals abroad that perform such surgeries. At some point, with the help of the state, I had gone to Geneva for surgery.

I will never forget it…

I was talking to someone in the hospital and a doctor who did not know that we were on an open hearing said the following: "What to go to Geneva since it will not go back anyway." I was written off! I cried like never before…

Everyone thought I was not going to come back alive. In their eyes I saw a goodbye painted…

I had surgery on 2 of the 3 differentiating aneurysms by a great heart surgeon who ignored his special team who advised him not to take me because I was a "lost cause". Nobody thought I would live, only him. He is a really great doctor! A modern missionary of Medicine, an ecumenical Greek.
He has operated on more than 15 children from third world countries on a non-profit basis and holds the patent "Kalangos Ring", an innovative "ring" that is placed in the heart of the child to repair the mitral valve and is used worldwide in pediatric heart surgery. He is the founder of the charity "Coeurs pour tous" (Hearts for All) and the director of the Cardiac Surgery Clinic of the University Hospital of Geneva.

Every day I thank God because I managed not only to live but also to be able to do what I did before, almost all my old activities. This is truly a miracle! I continue to smile, love people and live in every moment. I love the sea, the light, the sun.
We must never lose our faith, they have always been and will always be miracles, our very life is a miracle!
God bless us all! "
