A watch designed to last at least 10.000 years without the slightest human intervention has begun to be built under a mountain in the middle of a Texas desert.
The initiative is owned by the Long Now Non-Profit Foundation and is supported by Amazon billionaire founder Jeff Bezos, who has also donated the watch.
There is currently no date for the completion of the project envisioned and designed by inventor Danny Hills, who made the first public presentation of his 'crazy' idea in an article in Wired magazine in 1995, according to the BBC.
The first prototype of the "10.000 Years Clock" was created in 1995 and is now on display at the Science Museum in London.
