Fortnite, the company that launches the popular children's video game Fortnite, has stopped advertising on YouTube amid concerns following comments from pedophiles.
Epic Games has confirmed that it withdrew its ads in a similar move to Nestle, which has been accused of employing child slaves to produce its products.
According to the British Guardian, the company's videos are not considered "problematic". However, the problem starts with users' comments, as it was observed that strangers wrote provocative messages giving instructions on where to stop the video, so that they have the desired images of children, for example when girls were seen exercising or other children doing chores at home with their family.
Because the platform algorithm has been created to offer users videos based on their interests and choices, comments from pedophiles have been on the rise.
A YouTube spokesman commented on Epic Games' decision, stressing that the platform's policy is to ban any content, including comments, that endangers minors is considered unacceptable.
"We take immediate action by deleting accounts and channels, reporting any illegal activity and disabling the ability to comment on tens of millions of videos containing minors. "There are others that need to be done and we continue to work to improve our services and detect such incidents as quickly as possible."
A "plague" game
However, this online game has been considered a "scourge", as it pushes teenagers or even the youngest players, to violence and sex!
