The process of registration of the beneficiaries in the General Health System (GESS) starts tomorrow, while according to the General Director of the Health Insurance Organization (OAY), Athos Tsinontidis, from tomorrow will be posted in the electronic system and the list of personal doctors who have contract with the GESS so that the citizens can choose.

Speaking at a press conference, Mr. Tsinontidis said that the process of registration and selection of a personal doctor by the beneficiaries starts tomorrow and will continue, emphasizing that it is not a process that stops.

"At any time, every citizen will be able to log in and register. We certainly encourage all citizens and beneficiaries to register in the lists of personal physicians, so that on June 1, when the provision of health care within the GESS will begin, we all have our own doctor, so that at any time we can get services health care, "he said.

Who are the beneficiaries of GESS?

As mentioned at the press conference, the beneficiaries are all citizens who have their usual residence in the areas controlled by the Republic of Cyprus and fall into one of the following categories: • Cypriot citizens • European citizens who work or have acquired the right of permanent residence in accordance with the provisions of national law • Third-country nationals who have legally acquired the right of permanent residence or the right to equal treatment in accordance with the provisions of national law • Family members of the above categories • Refugees and persons with complementary protection status

Mr. Tsinontidis stated that in order to be able to receive health care services from GESS, one must register in the Register of Beneficiaries of GESS and then register in a list of personal physicians, while he noted that in order to be able to register in the Register of Beneficiaries of GESS, it is necessary to be registered either in the Archive of the Department of Population or in the Archive of the Department of Immigration and / or in the Archive of the Social Security Services and to submit an electronic application for registration in person, through third parties or through the staff of the doctor.

Regarding where to find the doctors, who have registered and will provide services within the GESS, Mr. Tsinontidis said that this can be done in three ways, with the first being through the portal of beneficiaries, ie after that a beneficiary will register, to be able to search to find his personal doctor by name, either by the area where he lives, or by the province.

How family members are registered in the Register of Beneficiaries of GESS

During the conference, the registration process was presented through the Beneficiary Portal. As mentioned from the user account in the Beneficiary Portal, one can submit registration requests to the Register of Beneficiaries of GESS for all members of his family, by selecting "Manage Registration Requests" and then submit a new registration request, following the instructions that appear .

For children with Cypriot citizenship, if the parent is registered before the child, his / her details will be displayed during the registration of the child. If the child is registered first, the parent details will be automatically included in the child's file as soon as the parent registers.

The request for registration in the Register of Beneficiaries of GESS and in a list of personal physicians is made electronically, through the Beneficiary Portal with four very simple steps.

Step 1:
Creating a user account: Via the GESS website (www.gesy.org.cy), you create an electronic account and then activate it via e-mail that will be sent to you in the e-mail that you will declare.

Step 2:
Login to the Beneficiary Portal & Registration in the Register of Beneficiaries of GESS: After logging in through the user account you created, following the instructions on the screen proceed to your registration in the Register of Beneficiaries of GESS, filling in your demographic information (eg address, contact phone , etc.). You will be notified via email and / or the Beneficiary Portal that your registration process in the Register of Beneficiaries of GESS has been successfully completed.

Step 3:
Search and selection of a personal physician: After registering in the Beneficiary Register and accessing the Beneficiary Portal you can send an electronic request for registration in a list of personal physicians of your choice, which you will find through an electronic search in the system. The application for registration in a personal doctor list can be made through your visit to a personal doctor who participates in GESS, in the list of which you wish to register. During the visit, the personal physician will search for you electronically in the Register of Beneficiaries and after locating you will register you in his list.

Step 4:
Completion of the procedure and visit to a personal doctor: The process of your registration in GESS and in the list of personal physician is completed after you register in the Register of Beneficiaries of GESS (Step 2), and then in the list of personal physician (Step 3).

Then, during your first visit to your personal doctor, you will be asked to present an identification form (eg ID), which is necessary at each of your visits to a healthcare provider contracted with GESS and you will also be asked to sign together with your personal doctor the "FORM OF MUTUAL ACCEPTANCE".

Electronic access to the beneficiary file through the Beneficiary Portal

To access the Beneficiary Portal through the Beneficiary Portal, which includes a person's demographics, medical profile and medical history, they must link it to their user account. It is noted that in case he has minor children, he will automatically gain access to the children's files through the same procedure.

To link your beneficiary file to your user account you must have two verification codes. He must ask his personal physician to provide him in hard copy with "Verification Code 1", which is one of the two verification codes required to access his beneficiary's file.

Then, the second required code will be automatically sent to the e-mail address, which was declared during the registration in the Register of Beneficiaries of GESS. Once someone is sure that they have both the required codes, they should log in to the Beneficiary Portal user account, locate and select the "CONNECT YOUR BENEFICIARY FILE" link, enter the 2 verification codes in the respective fields and select the "VERIFICATION" to complete the process.
