In occupied Famagusta they warn that in the future the dialysis patients of the province of Famagusta will go for their dialysis, if the problems they face in the dialysis unit of the Famagusta General Hospital are not solved.

This was stated to Famagusta.News by the President of the blood-cleansing Famagusta, George Kezos, since, as he states in a letter he sent to OKYPY, he speaks of mockery on his part, since they have not satisfied, as he states, their constant demands.

Despite hiring a second nephrologist as he mentions, 15 days a month are not covered by a doctor on call, typically saying that the second doctor as many times as he worked as an on call has not been paid.

The dialysis patients also request the expansion of the unit so that it can cover the increased needs that exist, as well as the replacement of the existing dialysis machines since, as he states, they are under-functioning.

Characteristically, as he mentions, two years ago they replaced the machines of the dialysis unit at the General Hospital of Nicosia with new ones and the old machines were sent… as "good" machines to the hemodialysis unit of the General Hospital of Famagusta.

Mr. Kkezos finally in the letter addresses a last appeal for the solution of the problems, pointing out that otherwise they will take dynamic measures, essentially photographing the transition for dialysis in occupied Famagusta.

The answer of OKYPY

From the side of OKYPY, Charalambos Charilaou in his intervention in the show "Mesimeri kai Kati", stated that OKYPY has fulfilled its promise, stating that a second nephrologist has been hired, while regarding the other requests he stated that all on-duty requests are covered. days, the 2 days of the month by a doctor who is on call and the rest from the hospital in Larnaca, while for the machines he mentioned that they are not old but modern, and are the same as in the other hospitals.

In addition, he said that the organization submitted a proposal to the department of electromechanical services, which was responsible for offering dialysis to other hospitals, so that if there are possibilities to expand dialysis machines to other hospitals, to include the Famagusta General Hospital.

The Letter to OKYPY as it is:

Subject: Non-satisfaction of the requests of the Blood Purifiers of the Province of Famagusta

"Gentlemen,

With this letter I want to express as a representative of dialysis patients, my dissatisfaction and mockery on your part regarding dialysis patients in the province of Famagusta.

We have asked many times for the replacement of the machines of the Hemodialysis unit, since as a poor relative, the machines that you have sent us are the ones that you replace with new ones at the General Hospital of Nicosia and they are under-functioning.

Another of the many problems we face is that there are no Nephrologists on call daily for emergencies in the Province of Famagusta. Unfortunately there is only one doctor who goes on call only for 15 days since the other doctor does not take office because the number of times he worked on call has not been paid until today. It is inadmissible for dialysis to be performed by the nurses without the presence of a Doctor because in case of any problem that arises in the future, the responsibility will be solely the responsibility of OKYPY and no one else. It goes without saying that in none of the cases do nurses make superhuman efforts and we thank them for taking any responsibility for your own weaknesses.

To the countless problems is added the expansion of the unit, for which you have been making fun of us for the last year and a half, with the result that some cases are being treated in other provinces. Our needs are increased as never before, especially in this period because of the tourists who come to Cyprus and need dialysis.

In closing, we appeal to everyone responsible to take care of the solution of the countless problems we face in the Province of Famagusta before we start losing lives.

The problems I mentioned above must be resolved immediately because otherwise you will leave us with no choice but to take action.

Thank you in advance and I hope for your immediate and effective intervention to solve our problems ".

Sincerely,

George Kezos

President of the Famagusta Dialysis Center
