Anorthosis is connected in the eyes of all fans in Cyprus with blue and white.

As is well known, however, these were not the first colors of the refugee group, but yellow and black. Yesterday marked the 84th anniversary of November 9, 1933, the day on which, as the "Lady" recalled, an order was made, in an English factory, for blue and white T-shirts, which replaced the yellow and black, as club colors.

The fact that in her early years Anorthosis competed with the specific colors, not many people knew, until at the age of 100 the "Lady" wore them again, in anniversary costumes. However, yellow and black were not used for many years, except for three and a half seasons, in informal leagues.

Anorthosis was founded in 1911, but its activities were initially limited to social, cultural and national. He developed athletic activity in the 20's, while 1929 was a historic year.

At that time, the club was renamed MAFSA (Anorthosis Music-Athletic Philological Association), while POEB (Greek Varosia Football Team), in which members of the club played, joined Anorthosis, creating its first football team.

The following year, on March 15, 1930, it was decided that the first colors of the football team would be yellow and black, inspired by Byzantium.

In the 1930/31 season, Anorthosis made its… football debut, playing in the Famagusta provincial championship organized by GSE, while wearing the yellow and black for the next two seasons. In 1931/32, when he played in the first - unofficial - Pancyprian championship, organized by Pezoporikos (named
"City Championship"), as well as in 1932/33, when he played in the second pan-Cypriot championship, organized by APOEL.

Anorthosis started a fourth season with the yellow and blacks, in 1933/34, but on November 9, 1933, the uniforms with the blue and white colors were ordered, which were inaugurated during the specific period, which incidentally was the last before the establishment of the KOP. and the start of the official tournaments. These colors, which remain to this day the official of the team, were chosen in honor of the Greek flag.
