In addition to the knowledge offered by a comparative study between the two conflicts, where the expatriate professor along with his counterparts from Israel and Palestine have started, they also try to focus and analyze in detail the resistances of the two warring parties, but also the prospects. which can be created by comparing the experiences of the two "majority" populations (Jewish-Israelis and Greek Cypriots).

The second framework of consultations in which the expatriate professor participates, which is adjacent to the first but remains independent. It is an initiative of the Cyprus Academic Dialogue where, on the occasion of the visit of Dr. Michael, and the completion of 10 years since its establishment as an inter-community organization, and with the full support of the Australian High Commission in Cyprus, will examine the prospects, possibilities and value of a truly inter-communal dialogue focusing on Famagusta.

The two co-chairs of the Cyprus Academic Dialogue, sociologist Dr. Nikos Peristianis and Professor of International and Political Relations Yücel Vural, together with Dr. Michael had a series of contacts, meetings and discussions with officials from Famagusta, the High Commissioner of Australia in Cyprus the head of the UN Department of Political Affairs in Cyprus, Faylene Woolley, and the mayor of Deryneia, Mr. Karagiannis.

This examination was an idea of the late mayor of Famagusta Mr. Alexis Galanou, which he raised to Dr. Michael and his wife, Australian Federal MP, Maria Vamvakinou, in a meeting they had last year.

It is noted that the elections for the election of the new mayor of Famagusta are held on August 25 and 5 candidates are running in them.
