The National Council condemned in the strongest terms the Turkish actions announced today in relation to the coastal front of the enclosed city of Varosia.

"The National Council strongly condemns the current actions of Turkey which violate the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, in particular Resolutions 550 of 1984 and 789 of 1992, and calls on Turkey to withdraw and comply with the above resolutions ", said the Government Spokesman Kyriakos Kousios, reading the unanimous decision of the National Council.

Mr. Kousios said that "the National Council, during its session today, in addition to the information received by the President of the Republic and the views expressed by the political parties, focused mainly on the current illegal action of Turkey in relation to the coastal front of the enclosed city of Varosia ”.

Clarifying that ELAM disagrees with the second paragraph of the decision of the National, Mr. Kousios pointed out that the National Council:

"Strongly condemns the current actions of Turkey, which violate the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and in particular UN Security Council Resolutions 550 of 1984 and 789 of 1992, and calls on Turkey to withdraw and comply with the above resolutions ".

It also "reiterates the readiness of the Greek Cypriot side to participate in a fruitful dialogue to resolve the Cyprus problem, away from threats and accomplished, on the basis of the framework as defined by the relevant UN resolutions, Security Council resolutions and the principles and values of the EU, of which the Republic of Cyprus is and will remain a member ".
