According to the spokesperson of the Fire Service Andrea Ketti, the fire that broke out in the area of Ammos of Kambouris in Ayia Napa was brought under control around three in the afternoon.
He added that the fire was noticed shortly before 13:30 at noon and 4 vehicles of the Fire Service and one of the Forest Department rushed to the scene, fighting to extinguish the fire.
Around three in the afternoon the fire was brought under control. The fire burned seven hectares of saplings, locusts and wild vegetation.
According to Mr. Kettis, the fire dangerously approached an individual house, however, the fire brigade managed to stop it.
Precautionary vehicles of the Fire Service remain in the area.
