The opening of the Marine Collection Exhibition of the well-known, late journalist and nature lover Renos Klokkaris will take place on Wednesday, May 30, at the Municipal Museum "Thalassa" at 7.00 pm.
The inauguration will be performed by the Secretary of the Council of Ministers, Mr. Theodosis Tsiolas.
This large collection is kindly donated to the Municipality of Ayia Napa to decorate the Museum by the children of Aris Klokkaris, Hermes Klokkaris and Lida Klokkari Kourmoulis so that locals and foreign visitors can get to know the natural treasures of our place.
A few words about Reno Klokkaris
Renos Klokkaris was born in Nicosia in 1915 and served journalism in difficult times for the place. A man of letters of history and mythology but also a lover of the nature of the plains, the mountains and the sea, he explored the bottom of Cyprus from end to end, as incredible seas in the Arabian Gulf, having, as a diligent swimmer, his unique outfit his mask and flippers.
He was looking to explore marine natural, authentic and unspoiled, to discover the incomparable beauty of the seabed that really enchanted him. In this way he gradually created a collection of shells / shells, which he studied through various specialized books, locating their names and analyzing their characteristics.
