3rd Technical Meeting of the Act
"Accessible Nature and Culture-Sustainable Tourism - In-Heritage" - in Ayia Napa
The 22rd Technical Meeting of the Act "Accessible Nature and Culture-Sustainable Tourism - In-Heritage" - was held with great success in the Municipality of Ayia Napa on June 23-2022, 3, in Ayia Napa, in the presence of the three mayors of Ayia Napa, Rethymno and Sotira Mr. Christos Zannettou, George Marinaki and George Takka.
This is the project, which has been approved for funding under the 4th call of the Interreg VA Cooperation Program "Greece-Cyprus 2014-2020" where the three municipalities and the National Confederation of Persons with Disabilities participate in the partnership. It is noted that the Municipality of Rethymnon is, this time, the head of the corporate group. The total Budget amounts to € 1.200.810,00.
The project is co-financed by the European Union (ERDF) and National Resources of Greece and Cyprus.
During the two-day meeting, the representatives presented the progress of the work so far, considered the possibility for future collaborations and visited the sites for the implementation of the actions.
In their statements, all three Mayors expressed their satisfaction for the cooperation in the implementation of the Act "Accessible Nature and Culture-Sustainable Tourism - In-Heritage", wishing it to continue, strengthening the ties between the partners, the exchange of know-how and good practices. , a valuable legacy for the future.
The project concerns the improvement of the accessibility of the disabled in natural and cultural places in the three municipalities, in the promotion and promotion of these places and in the development of common strategies and tools aimed at tourism for all.
The project will implement:
• Interventions to improve accessibility to selected natural and cultural sites of the three municipalities and to create accessible models and maps of selected points of natural and cultural heritage.
• Actions to promote and promote accessible tourist destinations through publicity material, accessible website, and information workshops.
• Joint strategic plan for the development of "accessible tourism", guide to the emblematic accessible points of natural and cultural heritage of the two islands, proposals for packages of accessible tourist routes.
• Common system for assessing accessibility and issuing a certification mark for "Accessible to all natural and / or cultural heritage sites".
• Actions outside the cross-border area for the exchange of good practices, with the aim of attracting a large target group (of the disabled), which to date has not been approached, because it can not be served by the infrastructure and services offered.
