"Usually we have bookings for 1200 weddings per year, this year we have about 800 and there is an increased interest and mobility of which we will see the positive developments and results when we have the new categorizations of countries."

According to the Mayor of Ayia Napa, this is good news that will give financial breath to the area since hotels, restaurants and cafes will operate while at the same time the wedding ceremony industry will be stimulated.

"Reservations for wedding ceremonies are very important because a large number of relatives, friends, etc. are coming. We are talking about a number that starts at 20 and ends at 50 people."

Although 80% of bookings are British, the mayor of Ayia Napa said bookings from Russia, Lebanon and the Scandinavian countries are expected soon.
