On the initiative of the Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Education and Culture Committee of the House of Representatives, Dr. Kyriakos Hatzigiannis and on behalf of the ex-officio registration of the issue "Creation of a lighthouse keeper museum in Cape Greco, the possibilities of utilizing the facilities / infrastructure for research purposes and the upgrade of the training center in Cape Greco", opened on Wednesday 08/07/2020 on the matter before the Education Committee.
Mr. Hatzigiannis developed his reasoning before the Education Committee, regarding the use of the space in Cape Greco which, according to him, after the departure of the French can be used in various ways.
Specifically, Mr. Hatzigiannis asked that the existing infrastructure and buildings located in Cape Greco be maintained and not demolished, as they can serve educational, environmental and cultural purposes.
At the same time, Mr. Hatzigiannis asked the Government to repair the lighthouse and the adjacent building for the creation of a lighthouse keeper museum. According to Mr. Hatzigiannis, the Municipality of Ayia Napa will have the primary say in the management of the area. Finally, Mr. Hatzigiannis on behalf of the Education Committee asked the representatives of the executive branch, who attended the meeting of the Commission, to inform the Council of Ministers about the issue and to receive an immediate response.
