In the context of monitoring the operation of the retail market and consumer information, the Consumer Protection Service has completed a new survey by collecting data on the levels of LPG retail prices (10 kg) from 183 premises (supermarkets / fruit shops and gas stations). of petroleum products) from the provinces of Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos and Famagusta on 13.11.2017.

Key research findings
There are measurable differences in the prices of a 10kg LPG cylinder between the various points of sale (difference of more than 40% between minimum and maximum price).
On average, supermarkets / fruit shops are slightly cheaper than gas stations, although this is not the norm.
The publication of the Price Observatory functions as a tool for informing consumers, with the aim of helping the market to function more competitively and for the benefit of the consumer. In view of the fact that - due to the change in temperature - in the next period the demand for LPG cylinders is expected to increase, the Consumer Protection Service recommends consumers to do market research in order to find the lowest price.
It is emphasized that the prices presented in each publication of the Price Observatory refer to the prices on the specific dates on which the checks for the receipt of prices have been carried out.
