At the same time, four out of ten hotels on a Cypriot basis will continue to operate during the winter. This year, 157 hotel businesses in the category of hotels, organized apartments and tourist villages chose to stay open for the months of November-March.

The total number of the most tourist-business units in Cyprus amounts to 406. Specifically, according to data from the CTO, in Paphos 55 of the 102 accommodations will continue to operate. Last year the corresponding number was 47, while compared to 2015 the hotels that continue to operate in winter are increased by 48,6%. In 2015-2016, only 37 of the 100 hotels remained open.

In the province of Famagusta, the numbers are much lower, however, small steps are being taken. They stated that 17 hotels out of 172 will continue to operate during the winter months, while the corresponding number last year was 13 and only 10 in 2015.

In contrast, in Larnaca and Limassol the numbers of hotels operating during the winter are declining. In Larnaca will operate 27 of the 43 hotel accommodations and in Limassol only a third. Of the 60 accommodations, that is, only 29 will remain open, while last year the corresponding number was 43.

Finally, it should be noted that in Nicosia all 29 hotel units will continue their operation without interruption.
