Famagusta Province: Two more immigrant arrivals – Over 250 Syrians in two days
Three boats with over 250 Syrian migrants in just 15 hours - Authorities alert
An alarm was sounded in the state services on Saturday and Sunday with increased arrivals of immigrants.
Specifically, around 12 noon on Saturday, information was received about wooden boat with 54 migrants from Syria. There were 37 men, 2 women, 6 children and 7 unaccompanied minors on board. After using information from the Police, an 18-year-old man was arrested against whom a 5-day detention order was issued by the Famagusta Provincial Court.
At 3 pm on Saturday, according to information from Famagusta.News, he was located boat with 97 migrants from Syria, specifically 49 men, 9 women, 17 children and 22 unaccompanied minors. So far, no arrests have been made in this incident.
The third boat was spotted according to information from Famagusta.News at 6:45 am on Sunday. They were on it 101 Syrian immigrants. After using information from the Police, a 41-year-old Syrian was arrested who is expected to be brought before the District Court of Famagusta for the issuance of a detention order.
After their information was recorded, they were transferred to the "Pournara" Temporary Accommodation Center in Kokkinotrimithia.
