In two new incidents on the beach in front of the Sunrise Pearl Hotel in Protaras and on the Nissi Beach in Ayia Napa, the lifeguards responded, rescuing 2 people.
According to the announcement of the Professional Beach Lifeguards Committee, yesterday 07/08 at around 16.40, a 52-year-old man on Nissi Beach lost consciousness while swimming. This was followed by the immediate towing of the victim from the water and the immediate provision of first aid. The timely intervention of the lifeguards allowed the victim to regain consciousness and be taken by ambulance to the General Hospital of Famagusta.
In the second incident, according to the update, yesterday 07/08 an elderly man who was on the beach in front of the Sunrise Pearl hotel, at 18.55 was in danger of drowning. The lifeguards, who according to the announcement normally go to school at 18.45 (daily 17.45 and weekends 18.45), were still on the spot by chance, after they were late to school, they towed the victim to land where they provided first aid until an ambulance arrived for transports him to Famagusta General Hospital.
Lifeguards are shouting for indifference
The lifeguards appeal to the competent local authority for staffing and as they report in many places the lifeguards perform service per person, as well as in coverage hours, since beaches with similar traffic in other provinces are staffed from sunrise to sunset with the shift system.
