Famagusta Municipality: Scream of despair from banquet halls (VIDEO)

"Since February 2020, we have just gotten married"

The owners of the banquet halls are still expressing a cry of despair. The constant prolongation of the restrictive measures but also the uncertain epidemiological picture due to the stable picture or the increase of the cases, lead to a prolonged lock in their companies and to an unemployment regime in themselves and their staff.

The Famagusta.News visited two banquet halls (at the beginning of 2021) in Deryneia and Protaras and talked to the owners. The well-known ballrooms, "Starlight" and "Zappeion", which in one year organized hundreds of weddings, baptisms and parties, are now inactive for more than a year and are waiting for the instructions of the Ministry of Health for their reopening, based on announcements issued for gradual reopening from 17 May 2021, if the epidemiological picture allows it.

Among the statements and the shocking statement of Mr. Lakis, the owner of the reception hall "Zappeion" who stated that on February 20, 2020 he organized just one wedding and from February 23, 2020 began a radical renovation of the hall, resulting in that day until today not to organize another reception.
