A new arrival of irregular migrants took place last night near Cabo Greco.
Specifically, according to the Police, the Coastal and Maritime Police were alerted at 19:30 last night when the radar detected a boat 12 nautical miles southeast of Cabo Greco.
A Coastal and Maritime Police boat rushed to the scene and found that 16 illegal immigrants, 10 men, 2 women and 4 children, were on board the boat.
The migrants were safely transported to the Golden Coast Fishing Sanctuary in Paralimni by the Coast and Maritime Police and then to Pournara.
As part of the investigation of the case, testimony emerged against a 19-year-old man who is said to be the boat's navigator, who was arrested.
He is expected to be brought before the Famagusta District Court later today to issue a detention order.
In the last 24 hours, two boats with a total of 33 illegal immigrants were detected by the radars of the Coastal and Maritime Police.
In addition to the 19-year-old, a 47-year-old and a 35-year-old were arrested and are also being brought before a court today.
Since May 9, a total of 19 boats with 452 people have arrived in Cyprus.
