At an unsafe limit, despite the decline in its diagnosed cases COVID-19, Cyprus remains, as the cumulative impact of 14 days, between 3-16 February, amounts to 164,3 cases per 100.000 inhabitants. Individually, all the Provinces have a significant reduction in their cumulative impact, except in Limassol where the cumulative impact remains burdened with a small increase and well above the safe limit set by the ECDC, ie 150 cases per 100.000 inhabitants.

According to the Ministry of Health, from its data National Report For the pandemic, published today by the Ministry of Health, it seems that if there was no burden in Limassol, the epidemiological picture in Cyprus would be better, the country could be described as "green" (according to ECDC indicators) and this would make a decisive contribution to the faster lifting of more restrictive measures.

As mentioned, the positivity rate is low and has a downward trend, albeit to a lesser extent. According to the program of rapid tests of the Ministry of Health, Limassol remains at a higher percentage than the other Provinces (about 0,5%), but without recording an increase.

Across Cyprus, the cumulative impact remains above the threshold (164,3 / 100.000 inhabitants) with a slight decrease compared to the previous week (173 / 100.000 inhabitants). Currently in Famagusta the cumulative impact is 45 / 100.000 (from 104,3 / 100.000), in Larnaca 75,2 / 100.000 from 121,5 / 100.000), in Limassol 390,7 / 100.000 (from 336,3 / 100.000) ), in Nicosia 83,4 / 100.000 (from 106,8 / 100.000) and in Paphos 46,1 / 100.000 (from 63,9 / 100.000).

"It follows from the above that the burden still exists in Limassol, which consequently maintains the cumulative impact for the whole country at an unsafe level," the ministry notes.

It is also reported that in order to detect as many cases as possible and to keep the spread of the virus at low levels, the sampling points for rapid test operating in the District of Limassol have been increased in the last week, while as announced, from February 20 case tracking has been extended to secondary case contacts.
