Famagusta Province or Kokkinohoria Province?

Lord Heron writes:

By today's announcement of the Municipality of Famagusta He reminded us once again of one thing: We cannot and are not entitled to put the name of Famagusta in our mouths! Another Famagusta, another Kokkinochoria! For almost 44 years, since the day of the occupation of Famagusta by the invaders and the displacement of two-thirds of Famagusta residents in Limassol and the rest in other parts of Cyprus, some have the impression that the seat of the Famagusta province has been relocated ( even temporarily) in Limassol and Larnaca. The City Hall of Famagusta, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Famagusta, the District Court of Famagusta, the Land Registry of Famagusta and the City Planning of Famagusta are also located there. Anything not occupied within the boundaries of the region of the so-called province of Famagusta is Kokkinochoria. And in order not to be misunderstood, the refugees from Famagusta, who were forced to be uprooted to find a better future in other cities, bear no responsibility for this.

At least this stereotype has been promoted and shaped for so many years by various lobbies for the free province of Famagusta. Red villages, vineyards, potatoes, zucchini and cheap tourism. We have these. For development no reason. No reason for progress. No reason to get involved in cultural events.

Of course, the strict announcement of the Municipality of Famagusta for a ban on the use of the name "Famagusta Carnival" by the province in which it takes place (!) Can only cause questions. Who can set limits or claim copyright to use the name of their province? The Municipality of Famagusta, by choice, moved its temporary headquarters to Limassol. Is this a factor in banning the use of the name by the more than 50 who live permanently in the free province? Or should we finally separate the free from the refugee province?

However, the problem stems from other factors. The EVEA-TEVEA relations, the war for the non-movement of the Famagusta Land Registry from Larnaca to Paralimni, the war for the non-relocation of all parts of the District Court from Larnaca to Paralimni, all show that the Kokkinochoria area is still it is trying to find its lost identity by overcoming the reefs that are deliberately sowing the competitive lobbies of other provinces.

However, the Mayor of Paralimni said it and stressed it a few times, that with the opening of the occupied city of Famagusta, all events bearing the name of the province (Famagusta Carnival, Famagusta Flower Shops) will be given to the Metropolitan Municipality. Besides, in the carnival parade of Famagusta, the Municipality of Paralimni itself paraded with a chariot dedicated to "Famagusta-Vassilevousa".

As an epitome I quote:
"That the earth does not have crickets to take it on its back, neither the strong nor the weak, and when the weak are weak in one thing and alone cannot take the weight and take the others and help, then not to imagine that the cause I say, but to say we ".
