With general ringing from the Holy Temples of the free area of Famagusta, the celebrations for the anniversary of April 1, 1955-59 began today in Municipalities and Communities.
At 06.30 the flag was hoisted at the Municipal Palace of Paralimni by the Mayor Theodoros Pyrillis and at 7 at the monument of the Fallen and Missing Savior by the Mayor Georgios Takkas.
In Paralimni, the solemn doxology will be performed at the Metropolitan Church of Agios Georgios at 09.30, officiated by Metropolitan Constantia - Famagusta Vassilios. The solemnity of the day will be delivered by Paraskevi (Ivi) Hatzikostantis, Assistant Director of Paralimni High School and the government will be represented by the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Costas Kadis.
In Ayia Napa, the doxology will be sung at 09.00 in the Holy Temple of Panagia Ayia Napa and the solemnity of the day will be delivered by the Famagusta MP of DISY George Karoullas and will be followed by the laying of wreaths on the busts of the heroes.
In Sotira the solemn doxology will be performed at 08.30 in the Holy Temple of the Resurrection of the Savior and the solemnity of the day will be pronounced by Archimandrite George Ioannou, who in 1956 was a prisoner in the Pylas Detention Center.
In Deryneia, the doxology will be sung at 09.00 in the church of Agios Pantos and the solemnity of the day will be recited by the Mayor Andros Karagiannis.
In Liopetri the doxology will be performed at 08.15 in the Church of Panagia Eleousis and the solemnity of the day will be delivered by the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Kyriakos Kokkinos. A trishagio and laying of wreaths at the Monument of Heroes will follow.
It is noted that in all the churches all the measures of protection from the coronavirus will be observed, as determined by the protocols of the Ministry of Health.
