Lifeguards responded to two new incidents.

One incident took place at Paralia Rou Kappari, where a 35-year-old woman was feeling unwell while swimming and called for help.

The lifeguard's intervention was immediate, with the lifeguards characterizing as unacceptable the fact that there was only one lifeguard on the beach.

This is the announcement of the Pancyprian Committee of Lifeguards

In two new incidents on Geroskipou beach in Paphos province and on Kappari beach in Protaras, our colleagues proceeded to the rescue of 2 people.

Specifically today and at about 13.20, a foreign woman about 35 years old who was swimming near the buoys on Kappari beach in Protaras, felt suddenly unwell and started calling for help.

Our colleague who was on duty alone, something we consider inadmissible (both for the safety of the bathers and the lifeguard himself) after towing the woman ashore, proceeded to provide first aid.

In the second incident, an elderly man tried to swim from Geroskipou beach to the rocky islet of Moulia, which is about 2 km from the shore. After 3 hours from his entry into the water, his wife informed her colleagues at the POF5 point (information collection time approximately 11.30).

The protocol of search and rescue operations of a missing person was followed according to the guidelines of the Search and Rescue Coordination Center, as a result of which the elderly man was found exhausted in a state of shock and tried to swim to the islet.

The man was transported ashore safely.
