The Coordination of Cyprus Bus Companies expresses satisfaction with the signing of the new contract for public transport by bus for the free province of Famagusta for the next 10 years, which was signed yesterday at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works.

In a written statement, the Coordinating Committee expresses "great satisfaction for the signing yesterday at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works of the new Public Transport Service Concession Agreement for buses for the free province of Famagusta, for the next 10 years, assuring the Minister of Transport company will work hard to meet the expectations and goals of the Ministry ".

It is added that the public passenger transport buses “serve passengers from all walks of life, including people with disabilities, people with reduced mobility, soldiers, the elderly, workers, thousands of tourists visiting Cyprus, young students and students schools, colleges, universities or their night outs ”.

The announcement also states that the Coordination intends to proceed immediately with the renewal of its fleet "with 55 state-of-the-art buses, environmentally friendly, which will have, among other things, free Wi-Fi and will be received within 2022. Also in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, we will proceed to the improvement of the network of itineraries, by increasing the frequency of the existing itineraries but also by creating new itineraries ”.

At the same time, it is noted, “with the important projects announced by the Ministry of Transport, such as the creation of bus lanes, construction of new shelters and stops, installation of a telematics system to better inform the passenger public, we hope that in the coming years we will achieve a significant increase passenger traffic on buses ”.

It is added that the Coordination of Cyprus Bus Companies “is a shareholder in the Cyprus Intercity Bus Company and we expect the Ministry of Transport to take its final decisions soon for the award of the public transport contract for the intercity routes that run between the cities of all Cyprus , for the period 2021-2031 ”.
