A 34-year-old woman from Liopetri, who was attacked last night, is being treated with two shots from a shotgun.
The alleged perpetrator is a 24-year-old former partner of the victim, who was arrested in connection with a murder attempt.
According to the police, the events took place yesterday just before 9 pm, when the woman, who is in the fifth week of her pregnancy, while sitting on the veranda of her house in Liopetri, was shot in the back.
The woman was transported by her brother to the General Hospital of Famagusta where the doctors on duty found that he had multiple wounds to the back from a shotgun. Her state of health is judged by the treating physicians as stable and out of danger. From a testimony provided by the Police that the suspect is a 24-year-old man from Liopetri who was arrested shortly before four today at dawn, by court order.
The young man is expected to be brought before the District Court of Famagusta today for the issuance of a detention order.
