A 27-year-old man is the youngest coronavirus patient who is currently being treated at the Famagusta General Hospital, which operates as a Referral Hospital, Amalia Hatzigianni, Scientific Director of the Larnaca-Famagusta General Hospitals, told KYPE.

Ms. Hatzigianni described today as "very pleasant" because, as he explained, "only 38 patients are being treated, of which 3 in the Intensive Care Unit, while 5-6 discharges are expected to be given to patients who have recovered. The number of patients in the MAF has decreased since yesterday five people were hospitalized while today there are only three ".

He added that "some people who were in the Intensive Care Unit are being treated and referred to other clinics."

According to Ms. Hatzigianni "it is gratifying that the epidemiological picture of Cyprus is improved, the people are relieved, however there should be no relaxation. "Everyone should strictly follow the measures issued by the Ministry of Health and each of us should take personal hygiene measures, ie mask, hand washing and distances, in order for the good image to remain in the coming months."

Regarding the admissions of patients from Nursing Institutions, he said that "only one patient from the patients comes from an Institution, which to date has not been vaccinated. "Vaccinations seem to have reduced the positive cases of coronavirus in people living in institutions or closed structures."

He added that "the Referral Hospital has entered a workflow that is taken for granted by medical and nursing staff, we work with the same zeal, while patients are satisfied with the care provided to them. The hospital treats a young man aged 27 and the elderly, with the oldest being 94 years old ".
