The issue that arose with the three nurses who worked in the Referral Hospital in recent months and are not included in the recruitment of new nurses will be examined, said the Press Spokesperson of OKYP, Charalambos Charilaou.

Asked to comment on the protest of three nurses who worked in recent months at the Famagusta General Hospital, which operates as a Coronavirus Referral Hospital, that they were not included in the new recruitments, Mr. Charilaou said that "the three people were recruited by decree to work at the General Hospital of Famagusta and have remained there ever since. Their request is to be permanently appointed to OKYPY because they offered their services in the last months ".

After explaining that "the recruitment of 160 new nurses was done on the basis of points" Mr. Charilaou noted that "OKYPY stated that in case the three nurses have the necessary points and fall into the numbers that we will hire, then there is no problem. However, the molecules of two of the three atoms are far below the scoring ".

Asked whether the case of the three nurses can be examined by OKYPY, taking into account that since last April they have been working with patients with coronavirus, Charalambos Charilaou said that "this is a humanitarian and very delicate issue, which will be examined by ΟΚΥπΥ. The three nurses are asking for a permanent position, however the Organization will consider their request and will give the appropriate answer ".

Regarding the new recruitments of nurses, he noted that "based on the budget of OKYPY and the agreement made with the Nurses Organization, 160 people will be recruited by the end of October, while more will be recruited by February 2021. The Organization has complied with the agreement reached. with the Nurses' unions while some of the young nurses have already signed a contract and are ready to work in the Hospitals ".
